Stretching isn’t just for pre-workouts but should be done before doing a repetitive motion for a long period of time or before doing any sort of heavy lifting. By doing so will keep your muscles and joints healthy for much longer. There is not a 100 percent effective method in preventing injuries at work but there are multiple benefits of stretching before a shift such as a reduction in fatigue, improvement in muscle movement and muscle coordination. A common problem of overworking your muscles is fatigue, which is a sensation of feeling overall tired, but by stretching before a shift in increases the blood supply to that body part.
As your moving the muscle, it increases the temperature of the soft tissues around it which decreases resistance in the tendons and muscles around it. Because of this, it allows the muscles to endure longer throughout the day. Other benefits would include improving muscle balances and posture has it allows the soft tissue to realign with the formation of the body. Lastly, it improves muscle coordination as it enhances the nerve impulses to the muscles. In order for your muscles to last you a long time it important that you work every part of the body such as the neck, shoulders, back, hands and legs. All it takes is five minutes before working to prevent thousands of dollars’ worth of injuries.
